How to Turn 2 Weeks of PTO into 50+ Vacation Days in 2025!

Only 2 Weeks of PTO?

If you only get the standard 2 weeks of PTO, planning family trips can feel a bit limiting, especially if you don’t want to take all your time off at once. By extending 3-day weekends, you can maximize your time off without using up too many PTO days at once. Plus, many of these long weekends coincide with school holidays, so it’s a win-win!

This approach lets you sneak in extra trips without missing too much work or kids missing school. If you're ready to start traveling with your kids this year, check out these dates below and start planning. You'll be surprised at how 2 weeks of PTO can turn into 55 days off!

Jan 18-21: 4 days - MLK Day  (1 day PTO)

Feb 14-17: 4 days - Presidents’ Day  (1 day PTO)

May 23-26: 4 days - Memorial Day (1 day PTO)

June 19-22: 4 days - Juneteenth  (1 day PTO)

July 3-6: 4 days - 4th of July  (1 day PTO)

Aug 29-Sept 1: 4 days - Labor Day (1 day PTO)

Oct 11-14: 4 days - Indigenous Peoples’ Day  (1 day PTO)

Nov 8-11: 4 days - Veterans Day (1 day PTO)

Nov 22-30: 9 days - Thanksgiving (3 days PTO)

Dec 22-Jan 2: 14 days - Christmas (5 days PTO)

Total = 16 days of PTO (depending on Christmas Eve and NYE) & 55 days off!

By strategically using your PTO for long weekends and school breaks, you can create more opportunities for family travel in 2025 while stretching your PTO throughout the year.

Save this for your PTO requests and start planning now—everyone deserves adventure!
